Licensing
Core Services of Northeast Tennessee is contracted with the State of Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration-Division of Mental Retardation and licensed by The State of Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities as well as The State of Tennessee Department of Health.
Funding
Core Services of Northeast Tennessee receives funding primarily through the State of Tennessee-Division of Mental Retardation Services, TennCare-Home and Community Based Waiver, Department of Finance and Administration. Funding is reimbursed to Core Services for services provided to the service recipients who have been approved.
The State of Tennessee matches by a percentage funding formula administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), for services administered in the community. These are referred to as Home and Community Based Medicaid Waiver. Some services are provided with 100% state dollars.
Other funding sources are private, as well as civic clubs in the area.
Governing Board
Core Services has a volunteer Board of Directors, representing a varied degree of backgrounds, some as business leaders, some as parents and also represented by a service recipient. The Board meets quarterly, the third Monday of the month, July, October, January, and April. The board meetings are open to the public. The board members serve a three (3) year term and may serve a second consecutive three (3) year term before they must come off for one (1) year.
